1 Delicious Chicken Curry "GOTOKEN" Plans to
Use Petaluma
With its very long history over 120 years, the Hakodate-Gotoken in
Hokkaido is one of the most reputed French cuisine caterers in Japan. After several years
of our joint work with Gotoken to develop a new product by using the California grown
"organic" chicken meat to entertain consumers in Japan, we are happy to report
that the Gotoken now is ready to market a new prouct of canned curry soup using the
Petaluma's organic chicken, Rosie. We will highlight this exciting upcoming news by our
"Breaking News" when its official sales may start across Japan expectedly
sometime mid-July, just a few weeks to go.
For more information on the Hakodate-Gotoken,
please refer to its web site that is available in "Japanese language" only as of

3 Yoshikei Ohmiya Starts Serving Petaluma Chicken
Yoshikei-Ohmiya,
one of the leading home food delivery service group, i.e. the Yoshikei Group, in Japan,
has recently adopted our Petaluma Rocky Chicken to its regular menu list by changing
locally supplied chickens.
Kakiuchi has started its supply of Rocky chicken to Yoshikei-Ohmiya from June 19, 2000.
Yoshikei-Ohmiya’s decision to
use the Rocky the Natural-Chicken is based on our good result of tasty and high-quality
healthy chicken meat to Yoshikei-Saitama that has been using the same chicken meat since
June last year. We are also thankful to the strenuous and continuing sales efforts by
Kakiuchi staff, our partner in Japan. For more information on the Rocky chicken, please
refer to the below.
Rocky, the
Natural Chicken grown in California, has old fashioned chicken flavor and fed a high
quality, flavor-enhancing, corn and soybean meal vegetarian diet containing no animal fat
or animal by-products.
A
story behind the delicious healthy chickens
Rocky the Range
Chicken was created when California super-star chefs searching for the equal of the
flavorful free range chicken they had used while cooking and training in Europe. With these
chefs, Allen Shainsky of Petaluma Poultry, has started his challenge of producing such a
chicken in the United States. Allen, with his partner and practicing nutritionist,
recreated an all natural feed using only the vegetable proteins of corn and soy and
containing none of the animal by-products and fats so common today.
After approximately a year experimentation, with the chefs testing each lot of birds for
taste and quality, Rocky was ready and pronounced superior in flavor to the French free
range chicken. Two years later, in 1988, Rocky junior was created to provide a smaller
sized version of antibiotic-free, flavorful chicken. Rocky Junior is several weeks younger
but enjoys the same feed and living environment except that he may roam only.
NO STRESS IN ENVIRONMENT ENSURES THE SUPERB QUALITY
The
chickens are grown from one day of age without the use of any antibiotics, also excluding
the use of sub-therapeutic levels of antibiotics for enhancing growth that are commonly
used in conventional chickens. They are fed a nutritionally balanced diet of corn and soybean meal,
without the use of animal fat, and animal by-products grown in uncrowded spacious houses
with natural daylight, and the chickens should be able to roam freely throughout the
growing house. In such a way chickens are grown and handled in a humane manner at all
times.

(From the Editor: July 2000)
After an absence of June issue, this month of July has a variety
of topics. This is is an indication of MLT business of today which is, no doubt, but
expanding. The exciting news of possible debut of canned chicken curry with
Hakodate-Gotoken sometime soon gives us a rewarding feeling as we have spent several years
to make this "project" have its concrete result. We believe that this new
business with Gotoken may boost further of our Petaluma's Rosie chicken sales in Japan.
Other good news came from Yoshikei-Ohmiya who started to use
Petaluma Rocky for its regular menu as healthy and tasty ingredient. Also Kakiuchi staff's
cotinuing efforts of Petaluma sales are now having more positive signs of business
expansion as consumers in Japan may well underrsand the quality meat from California.
Whilst we are a firm believer of future of "Organic" business industry, Mr.
Takeuchi of Ishii Foods echoes to this idea by his recent thesis on the organic chicken
industry albeit it is available in Japanese only.
MLT continues its efforts to keep updates on relative
business information about the industry and hopes to bring readers with more valuable and
interesting information. We target all our time and effort to "organic" foods so
as to keep our eyes on "healthiness, freshness, cleanness" of our quality life
today. And we always appreciate your support and welcome your comments and suggestions,
thank you.
